Expression Audiology were commissioned to present to a group of nearly 200 Specialist Audiologists on the importance of delivering culturally aware and inclusive services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

The presentation featured Senior Audiologist Matthew Grounds alongside staff members who identify as part of the Deaf community, who shared lived experiences and professional insights into what makes a hearing care experience inclusive—or alienating—for Deaf clients.

The discussion highlighted our best practice approach in our audiology clinics when working with Deaf people, emphasising the need for respectful communication, accessible information, and Deaf-aware environments.

“Providing culturally safe care goes beyond clinical skill,” Grounds said. “It’s about understanding identity, language, and community—and building genuine trust.”

The session reinforced Expression Audiology’s ongoing commitment to embedding Deaf culture, Auslan access, and inclusive communication at every stage of the client journey.

Expression Audiology continues to champion Deaf leadership and lived experience within its workforce, shaping services that reflect the communities it serves.
